Market Harborough 2s (3-2) LB Men's 1s

Based on previous results (MH scoring 20 in 2 games) Long Buckby were prepared to play a defensive game and hope to get a few counters and pray for a point! Unbelievably, we were very unfortunate to not take all 3!

Despite the mixed game being cancelled the mens could only take 12 players away but that did not deter us from battling for every ball right until the end! A change in formation created solidarity in the midfield and when MH did break through, a fiesty back line of Eamon (GK), Joe, Neil, Nick & Matt were able to hold their ground and turnover possession.

Buckby were as shocked as the opposition when Lee latched on to Joss's through ball and scored a reverse stick goal in the first half to put us 1 nil up. Not too long after Liam scored a low flick from our first penalty corner, 2 nil.

Robin and Ryan worked really hard through the middle to dispossess and track MH players running through. Once we won the ball back Billy and Joss made light work of the MH defence making skillfull runs down the flanks.

As the game went on MH were able to win a few penalty corners and converted two straight strikes to bring the game level, 2-2.

Towards the later stages of the match, a Harborough miss hit sneaked its way in to give them the lead, 3-2. Buckby were resilient and kept fighting right until the end but were unable to covert the chances.

MH walked off relived and Buckby were devastated! This shows what a battle we put in as the prediction was a MH walkover!
